Lewis Kanter, MD
Dr. Kanter received his Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from University of California, Irvine, California. He is a 1973 graduate of Georgetown University School of Medicine. He continued his training in Allergy/Immunology conjointly at Georgetown University School of Medicine and at the National Naval Medical Center in Maryland. He served 10 years in the US Navy and was Chief of the Allergy Division of the Department of Medicine National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, Maryland. Dr. Kanter is board certified in Allergy, Clinical Immunology and Pediatrics. He has lectured nationally and internationally on Medical Malpractice and the Effect on Physicians, Asthma, Allergic Rhinitis, Allergic Conjunctivitis, Latex allergy, outcomes & Quality of Life, Mold related issues and Hives. He has numerous publications on on Needle stick safety in the medical environments and proper use of skin testing for clinical allergy.
Dr Kanter has been a qualified medical expert on Insect induced asthma, reactions to environmental hazards including mold and served on the CA State Governor’s panel to understand, evaluate and attempt to solve the multi billion dollar cost of Asthma per annum.
After 10 years of active duty service, he left United States Navy. He moved to Ventura county and opened his medical practice in Camarillo and has been in practice in the county since 1981. He raised his children in the Camarillo area and has been an active member of the community. He also joined the United States Army Reserve and continued his military service for an additional 12 years. Dr Kanter retired as a Lieutenant Colonel from the United States Army Reserve.
Dr. Kanter was an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine. He has been a dedicated member of numerous established medical societies, including the American Medical Association, Association of Military Allergists, American Academy of Asthma, Allergy and Immunology, Fellow of the American Board of Asthma, Allergy & Immunology, American College of Asthma, Allergy & Immunology, Gold Coast Allergy Society, Los Angeles Allergy Society, Western Society of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and the California Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology. He has served as President of Gold Coast Allergy, California and Western Allergy Societies. He has published articles on numerous topics in Clinical Allergy and Immunology.
