Gammaglobulin (IVIG and subcutaneous gammaglobulin) is used to treat primary immune deficiency. It is obtained from pooled plasma and takes many donors to get the immunoglobulin necessary to infuse into patients requiring this treatment. In some parts of the country certain brands and types of IVIG have not been available. Dr. Porch was recently interviewed to weigh in on this important topic.
